This August, NewPlace International was able to fund the replacement of 6 of the mattresses for St. Pauls, as well as the purchase of 6 plastic covers to protect the mattresses from bed-wetting. Since plastic protective covers are not a common item in Kenya, they had to be specially made and fitted to each mattresses, which unfortunately increased the cost of the items. At this time NPI was only able to replace the mattresses for the 6 youngest children at the home, since their mattresses were in the worst conditions.
All of the mattresses at the home need replacing; the mattresses here are made out of a porous foam and are not able to withstand too many seasons. With your help and generosity we can replace all of the mattresses, many of which were either destroyed or damaged in the fire.
